Christmas.  Lots of things to do, gifts to buy, functions to attend, family to see (or avoid ..).  Yet at the back of our minds is that yet another year is drawing to a close … fast.  This also brings to mind the year soon upon us - 2010.  What’s that year going to bring?  What have you done to ensure it’s going to be a great year (assuming you want a GREAT year, of course)?

Over Xmas and New Year business is generally a bit quieter than the rest of the year.  It’s an excellent time to do a bit of planning for your business.  Often, in the busyness of the year, it’s the one thing that gets missed out.  Too busy working IN the business to work ON the business!  

We always spend time at the end of each year reviewing our Strategic Plan for our business.  In fact this year we’re going back to square one, and also reviewing our Vision for our business.  We highly recommend you do this regularly.   Not only will you be able to ensure you’ve got all the right systems in place for your business, but you’ll also get back in touch with why you’re in the business in the first place.

How long has it been since you’ve reviewed your own business Vision and Strategic Plan?  Do you even have one?   If not, time to get one.

Maybe you’ve got your business Vision or Strategic Plan hiding in the back of your cupboard - it won’t do much good there!   Pull it out, dust it off and review it.  You may even find you need to create a new one (especially if it has been tucked away for while - it’s probably either well out-of-date, or didn’t inspire you in the first place).
